Rapper Soulja Boy has apologised for lyrics that offended the US military and their families.
In a video for the track Let's Be Real, he questioned the role of the FBI and the army rapping, "Fighting for what?"Lieutenant Colonel Thomas Shrader, a spokesman for military retail network The Exchange, said stores run by the military would not carry his new album Respect My Hustle because of the song.
The military says it may reconsider if the song is cut from the record.
That brought a quick response from Soulja Boy, who wrote in a blog: "When I expressed my frustration with the US Army, not only did my words come out wrong, I was wrong to even speak them."
The 21-year-old rapper, whose real name is DeAndre Cortez Way, first gained fame online with the dance he created for the track Crank That.
That song and his next single Soulja Girl
